How Do We Compare?
Hear It From Them
The only reviews that matter are from those who've been here
Is Kala Surf Camp Right for You?
Some camps try to be everything to everyone. We're not that. We're the camp where coaches become mates, dinner turns into late-night jam sessions, and "one more wave" becomes the daily motto. If that sounds like your kind of chaos, keep reading.
You'll love it here if you:
Travel solo but hate eating alone
Want to actually improve your surfing, not just splash around
Think the best nights end with guitars and good stories
Work remote and need decent wifi between sessions
Like your surf camps social but not sloppy
Maybe skip us if you:
Need five-star service and turn-down service
Want to rage until 6am every night
Prefer surfing alone without any coaching
Can't handle family-style dinners and shared spaces
Think surf camps are just cheap accommodation

Best Surf Seasons in Bali
Here's the thing about Bali – there's no bad time to surf. Just different times. While other camps stick to one coast and complain about conditions, we chase the best waves year-round. East coast firing? We're there. West coast going off? Already in the van. That's the Kala advantage.
Dry Season (April-October):
The west coast lights up with consistent swells and offshore winds. Think perfect barrels at Uluwatu, long walls at Impossibles, and those dreamy sunset sessions everyone posts about. Yeah, it's busier, but we know when and where to score empty lineups.
Wet Season (Novemeber-March):
Our secret weapon season. While everyone fights for waves on the west, the east coast turns on with glassy conditions and way fewer crowds. Keramas, Sanur, and hidden reefs that most camps don't even know about. Plus, afternoon rain just means the dawn patrol gets even better.
Add-Ons & Extra Activities
Because surfing's just the beginning of what Bali offers
Daily Yoga Classes
Stretch out the surf stiffness with daily sessions on our rooftop. Morning flows to wake up your body, sunset sessions to wind down. All levels welcome – from first-timers to pretzel people. Your shoulders will thank you.

Stay Surf-Strong
Personal training, mobility work, and recovery sessions to keep you in the water longer. Fix those pop-ups, strengthen your paddle, or just work off last night's Bintangs. Our trainers actually surf, so they get it.

Explore Beyond the Breaks
Waterfalls, temples, rice terraces – the Bali everyone talks about. Plus our secret spots: spearfishing adventures, freediving courses, and cultural experiences away from the tourist trail. Small groups, local guides, real Bali.

Scooters & More
The only way to really see Bali. We hook you up with reliable bikes and honest prices. First time? We'll teach you the basics and the unwritten rules of Bali roads. Helmets included, road rash not guaranteed.

Double Your Sessions
Can't get enough? Add extra sessions, 1-on-1 coaching, or specialized clinics. Video analysis deep dives, equipment consultations, or just more time in the water. For those who came to surf hard.

The Practical Stuff
Visa runs, laundry service, airport transfers, meal upgrades to full board. All the boring but necessary things handled, so you can focus on what matters. Prices that won't sting, service that actually works.

FAQs
The stuff everyone asks (so you don't have to)
Your room, daily breakfast, two surf sessions every day (you choose how many to join), all surf equipment, video analysis, transport to the breaks, and access to all our facilities – pool, gym, surf skate bowl. Weekly workshops and BBQ nights too. Basically everything except lunch, dinner, and your Bintangs.
Solo travelers are our bread and butter. Most people rock up alone and leave with a WhatsApp group full of new mates. We eat family-style, surf in small groups, and by day two, you'll have people saving you a spot at dinner. It's actually harder to stay solo here than make friends.
Perfect. Start with our 3-day surf school where we take you from zero to standing up. Small groups, soft boards, patient instructors who remember being beginners too. After that, join the daily coaching sessions. Everyone starts somewhere – even our best surfers ate it on their first wave.
We're 45 minutes from Ngurah Rai Airport. Grab a taxi or book our airport transfer for hassle-free arrival. Tell the driver "Kala Surf Camp in Uluwatu, near Single Fin" – they'll know. We'll send exact location details with your booking confirmation.
Life happens, we get it. You can change dates up to 14 days before arrival, subject to availability. Less than 14 days gets tricky, but shoot us a message – we're reasonable humans and will work something out if we can.
Your usual tropical stuff – swimwear, sunscreen (reef-safe please), and something nice-ish for nights out. We've got surfboards, rashguards, and all surf gear covered. Bring a yoga mat if you're picky, otherwise we have those too. Oh, and leave room in your bag – everyone buys too many Bintang tank tops here.
