Ever read one of those long and exhaustive lists about where to eat in a particular location, only to realise that half of the places mentioned are closed down or not as good as they used to be?

Well, this isn't one of those lists.

Given that Kala Surf is firmly entrenched in the Uluwatu community (and because we like to eat), we've compiled a list of some of the best restaurants in Uluwatu.

Trust us when we say these joints are sure to satisfy your taste buds and leave you wanting more after a long day of surfing perfect Indo waves!

Best Breakfast Spots in Uluwatu

Artisan - Uluwatu / Bingin

If you thought brunch was dead, think again.

Artisan Uluwatu takes brunch to a whole new level with their creative twist on classic dishes. It may just be our favorite breakfast joint EVER. It’s definitely number one in Uluwatu.

BBQ glazed tofu, 24-hour rotisserie chicken and Japanese omelets are on the menu. And because it's almost midday, why not try one of their delicious cocktails or sample a bottle from their curated wine list?

The wood fired cuisine continues into the evening at Artisan Uluwatu, with an impressive array of fresh seafood, premium cuts of meat and locally-sourced produce – all of which is set against a moody, dimly lit ambience.

Thursday is steak night, Saturday is jazz night and their weekly music events add even more excitement to this already bustling breakfast spot.

Artisan has opened up a new location in Bingin, this is our favourite one of the 3 (Uluwatu, Bingin and Ungasan). Beautiful decorations and this location has a second story that is great for co-working.

Address Uluwatu: Jl. Pantai Labuansait Suluban, Pecatu, Kec. Kuta Sel., Kabupaten Badung, Bali 80361, Indonesia

Address Bingin: Jl. Pantai Bingin, Pecatu, Kec. Kuta Sel., Uluwatu, Bali 80361

The Dharma Experience / Coffee, food, and surf vibes all in one spot

Part surf shop, part cafe, all good vibes. The Dharma Experience is exactly what Uluwatu is all about.

This place combines specialty coffee, American-style comfort food, and a full surf retail setup under one roof. Try the Big Breakfast or the Pesto Scramble Eggs to start your day right, then browse the latest boards and gear, or just post up with a coffee and watch the surf crowd filter through.

It's casual, it's lively, and it's one of those spots where you'll inevitably run into someone you know.

This place is impossible to miss, not only is it massive but it is also located on the corner of Jalan Labuansait (the main strip), The Dharma Experience captures that authentic Uluwatu energy where surf culture and good food intersect. Whether you're gearing up for a session or winding down after, this is a solid stop.

For the dog lovers this place is dog friendly.

Address: Jl. Labuansait No.888x, Pecatu, Kec. Kuta Sel., Kabupaten Badung, Bali 80361

KYND Community / Plant-based paradise in pink

If you thought plant-based food meant boring bowls and bland salads, KYND Community is here to change your mind. After dominating Seminyak and Canggu, KYND has finally brought their Instagram-famous pink aesthetic and seriously delicious vegan food to Uluwatu.

Everything on the menu is 100% plant-based, and everything tastes incredible. The breakfast burrito is a fan favorite, the "Cheeken" sandwich is legitimately good (even meat-eaters are impressed), and their smoothie bowls are works of art. Don't sleep on the Bli Buddah bowl or the peanut sauce dandan noodles either.

The matcha milkshakes are divine, almost like dessert in a cup. And if you're into aesthetics, the pink walls, cute merch, and vibrant presentation make every meal photo-worthy.

Open daily from 7:30 AM to 9:30 PM (walk-ins for breakfast and lunch, reservations available for dinner), KYND has quickly become a go-to for health-conscious travelers and locals who refuse to compromise on taste. It's plant-forward cooking with serious flavor.

And trust us, this place is impossible to miss, it's bright pink.

Address: 8A Jalan Labuansait, Pecatu, Bali

Bambu Cafe / Macro-friendly fuel for fitness enthusiasts

Attached to Bambu Fitness (Uluwatu's top gym), Bambu Cafe is your pre or post-workout fueling station, though you definitely don't need to be a gym-goer to appreciate the food here.

This health-conscious cafe serves up macro-friendly meals with full nutritional information listed on the menu. Whether you're tracking your intake or just want to eat clean, Bambu makes it easy. The customizable "build your own" menu lets you hand-pick ingredients, or you can go with signature dishes like the Beef Pow Pow, Scrumptious Omelette, The Big Bambu Brekky, Chicken Avocado Salad, or Honey and Soy Chicken.

Everything is cooked in gut-friendly coconut and olive oil, and the ingredients are fresh, locally sourced, and honestly just taste really good. The portions are generous, the flavors are on point, and the coffee (by Expat Roasters) is some of the best on the Bukit.

With a covered outdoor dining area and air-conditioned indoor space, it's comfortable no matter the weather. Open daily from 6:30 AM to 10 PM, Bambu Cafe has become a favorite for anyone who wants healthy food that actually tastes amazing.

Many people find themselves eating here 2-3 times a day, that's how good it is.

Pro tip: Bambu Cafe offers free deliver via Whatsapp and now they opened a new recovery center called Bambu Oasis

Address: Jl. Pantai Bingin No.8, Bingin, Uluwatu, Kabupaten Badung, Bali 80361

Lunch Spots in Uluwatu

Best Dinner Spots in Uluwatu

Masonry / Wood-fired Mediterranean with premium meats

Originally based in Canggu, Masonry Uluwatu restaurant has expanded to a new location in Uluwatu while staying true to its roots by offering the same wood fired cuisine that has made it popular.

There's always a solid buzz inside Masonry Uluwatu, with the kitchen at the heart of the restaurant. Guys, this is where you come for finger-licking good food with a touch of class.

We're talking premium meats (48-hour slow cooked ribs, anyone?), fresh vegetables and top quality cheeses, all prepared to perfection in their signature wood fired oven. And let's not forget the superb cocktails. Masonry Uluwatu has an impressive bar menu that's perfect for unwinding after a long day of exploring or surfing.

Then again, the moody lighting, indoor palm trees and tropical greenery create a cozy and intimate atmosphere that's ideal for a romantic dinner or catch-up with friends.

Either way, you'll be leaving with a full belly. This is one of the top-most consistently great restaurants in Uluwatu. The recently renamed from Mason to Masonry in case you remember it being under a different name.

Address: Jl. Labuansait No.10, Pecatu, Kec. Kuta Sel., Kabupaten Badung, Bali 80361, Indonesia

YUKI / Modern Japanese izakaya meets Balinese flavors

When YUKI first opened in Canggu, it quickly became the go-to spot for anyone craving modern Japanese cuisine with a laid-back twist. Now, they've brought that same magic to Uluwatu, and we couldn't be happier.

YUKI Uluwatu is all about the izakaya experience, think small plates, wood-fired specialties, and signature cocktails that hit different. The menu blends traditional Japanese techniques with fresh, locally sourced Balinese ingredients, creating dishes that are both innovative and deeply satisfying.

Must-tries include the wagyu sando (seriously, one of the best sandwiches you'll ever have), nori ahi tacos with watermelon and ponzu, and their perfectly grilled yakitori skewers. The sushi and sashimi are always fresh, and the tuna truffle maki roll is an absolute flavor bomb.

On the drinks side, YUKI's cocktails are just as creative. Try the "Off To Tokyo" with wasabi and furikake for something adventurous, or the refreshing "Yukies 2.0" with gin, kalamansi, goji berry, and yuzu.

The vibe is stylish yet relaxed, with traditional Balinese roofing mixed with minimalist Japanese design. It's perfect for date night, catching up with mates, or just treating yourself after a solid surf session.

Address: 53MV+5H5, Jl. Labuansait, Pecatu, Kec. Kuta Sel., Kabupaten Badung, Bali 80361

Teja / Live-fire dining with sunset views

Rooted in the Sanskrit word for the energy of fire and warmth, Teja brings refined Modern European cuisine to Uluwatu with a heavy focus on live-fire cooking and bold, simple flavors.

Led by Manchester-born Chef Mike McGairy (formerly of Australia's ultra-luxurious Lizard Island), Teja celebrates premium ingredients cooked over open flames. The menu highlights dry-aged fish and meat with creative, unexpected touches. We highly recommend the Teja Ceviche, BBQ Octopus, Charcoal Chicken, and the Australian Black Angus Scotch Fillet.

The handcrafted space features raw textures and natural materials that create a warm, inviting ambiance perfect for sharing food and drinks with friends. Arrive around 5:45 PM to snag a good seat for sunset, then settle in for golden hour cocktails around the mesmerizing fire pit overlooking the valley. This is one of the better restaurants in Uluwatu to see the sunsets, make sure you make an early reservation.

The menu shifts with the catch of the day, so expect fresh surprises each visit. And don't skip the desserts, the dark chocolate tart with torched Italian meringue is a must. Open daily from 4 PM to 10 PM (except Mondays), Teja has quickly become one of Uluwatu's go-to spots for special occasions and date nights.

Address: Jl. Labuansait Gang Mamo, Uluwatu, Bali 80361

Rockfish / Fine dining in a clifftop cave

Perched 70 meters above the Indian Ocean inside a breathtaking clifftop cave, Rockfish might just be the most dramatic restaurant setting in all of Bali.

Led by celebrated Chef Andrey Legkiy (formerly of NOBU, Asia Hall, and GINZA, trained under Michelin-starred chefs), Rockfish delivers world-class fine dining with a focus on exquisite seafood. The meticulously crafted menu showcases the finest ingredients, from fresh shucked oysters and sashimi to grilled jumbo prawns, lobster linguine, and dry-aged steaks.

The cave opens onto a glass-floored terrace with sweeping views of the coastline and crashing waves below. The atmosphere shifts beautifully throughout the day: bright turquoise waters under afternoon sun transform into golden skies and fiery sunsets, creating a setting that feels almost otherworldly.

Come for an early dinner around 5:30-6 PM to catch the sunset, then stay for live DJ sets on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday evenings. The combination of dramatic views, impeccable service, and culinary artistry makes Rockfish one of Uluwatu's most unforgettable dining experiences.

Open 7 days a week from 3 PM until late, Rockfish is the kind of place that feels like a destination in its own right, sipping cocktails as the sky turns gold, tasting Michelin-influenced dishes, and watching paragliders drift across the horizon.

Pro Tip: Do NOT make a reservation for one of the cliffside tables. There will be people taking photos 2 inches from you for the entire sunset.

AVLI / Modern Greek courtyard dining

Inspired by the traditional Greek αυλή (avlí), an open courtyard where life naturally unfolds, AVLI brings the spirit of Mediterranean connection to Uluwatu. This isn't just a restaurant; it's a rhythm. Slow, vivid, generous.

Hidden away from Uluwatu's main buzz, AVLI's courtyard setting features twinkling lights, leafy trees, and open-air seating that feels made for long, laughter-filled dinners. The moment you arrive, you're welcomed with claps and warm smiles before diving into plates brimming with authentic Greek flavors.

The menu is vibrant, soulful, and meant to be shared, think lively mezze, grilled meats, fresh seafood, and house-made bread that you'll dream about later. Everything is rich, fresh, and beautifully executed, with that perfect balance of rustic and refined that Greek food does so well.

Don't miss OPA Night every Thursday, music in the air, mezze on the table, wine in hand, and yes, plate breaking. It's the kind of celebration that reminds you life's better when shared. The boundaries between private and communal blur here, and everything feels open, alive, and real.

Open daily from 5 PM until late (until midnight on Friday and Saturday), AVLI has quickly become a go-to for family gatherings, romantic dinners, and everything in between. It's coastal European charm meets Bali's open-air magic.

Address: Pecatu, South Kuta, Badung Regency, Bali

Il Salotto / Italian cocktail bar meets deep house vibes

Italian flavors meet metropolitan cool at Il Salotto, a hidden gem tucked away in Uluwatu. With a warm and inviting atmosphere, this bar is the perfect spot to unwind after a day of surfing or exploring the local area.

The menu at Il Salotto boasts an impressive selection of cocktails, all expertly crafted by their team of passionate bartenders. From classics like negronis and martinis to unique concoctions made with local ingredients, there's something for every taste. Be sure to try their signature drink the Il Salotto Spritz, a refreshing blend of Aperol, Prosecco and soda water.

But it's not just about the drinks at Il Salotto. Their food menu is just as noteworthy. Influenced by Italian cuisine, you can get everything from small bites like bruschetta and arancini to heartier options like pizzas and pastas.

We particularly love the warm hospitality and friendly atmosphere. Throw a DJ spinning deep house beats late into the night and you have the perfect recipe for an unforgettable evening.

Pro Tip: The perfect Friday Night would be Happy Hour Sunset at Mana, dinner reservation here, followed by hitting the dance floor once the DJ comes on at 10pm.

La Baracca / Rustic Italian with wood-fired pizzas

Everyone has their favorite Italian eatery, and for us here at Kala Surf, it's La Baracca

This charming Uluwatu restaurant brings a touch of Italy to Uluwatu with its unbeatable wood fired pizzas, homemade pastas and extensive wine selection.

You can find classic Italian dishes here, for sure. But what makes La Baracca stand out is their creative and innovative take on classic Italian cuisine and the understated, rustic vibe. The furniture and decor are all made from recycled materials, giving the space a unique and charming character. And with vegetarian and vegan options available, everyone can enjoy a taste of Italy in our little slice of paradise.

Stop for a quick drink or linger over a long meal. The homey ambiance and friendly staff will make you feel right at home... whether you're Italian or not.

Zali / Authentic Lebanese home cooking

A grandma who loved to cook. Dishes straight from Beirut. Authentic Lebanese cuisine in the heart of Uluwatu. Zali has a story to tell and it tells it well through its delicious food.

There are vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options for those who want to keep things healthy, but there are also plenty of dishes that will make your taste buds do the dabke. Grab a mezze bowl to share and dive into mounds of freshly prepared tabbouleh, hummus or falafel before moving on to the hearty mains like chicken shawarma and beef kafta. And make sure to save room for dessert because the baklava is out of this world.

The best thing about Zali though?

You can literally taste the love and care in every dish. It's like having a home-cooked meal with new friends in an exotic location. And it's the reason why we always go back for more.

Bartolo / French-Italian bistro with handmade pastas

Uluwatu's go-to neighborhood bistro for authentic French and Italian cooking, world-class cocktails, and an intimate dining atmosphere that feels both refined and relaxed.

Bartolo is all about simple, unexpected sharing plates rooted in European flavors while celebrating locally sourced ingredients and seasonal produce. Head Chef Ryan Thejasukmana (trained at Le Cordon Bleu Sydney) brings serious technique to the kitchen, creating dishes like steak tartare, handmade pasta, duck ragu, grilled seabass, and lamb chops that are cooked to perfection and full of flavor.

The menu is thoughtfully curated and changes with the seasons, but standouts include the burrata, beef tartare, and their ridiculously good handmade pasta. Every Friday is Pasta Friday, Italian-inspired recipes, fresh handmade pastas, and drinks specials.

Don't skip the cocktails. Bartolo's menu celebrates the rich heritage of vermouths (originating in Italy in the 18th century), offering inventive twists on classics that highlight diverse vermouth styles. It's cocktail craftsmanship at its finest.

The vibe is rustic charm meets refined elegance, with warm hospitality and attentive service that consistently gets rave reviews. Alchemy Uluwatu / 100% organic plant-based dining

Before there were hundreds of vegetarian and vegan restaurants on the island, Alchemy was quietly holding court in Ubud.

Now, much to the delight of Kala Surf guests the world over, the iconic vegan eatery has set up shop in Uluwatu.

Start your morning with a revitalizing turmeric latte or grab a falafel protein bowl in between surf sessions. For dinner, try the flavourful pumpkin moringa pizza and pair it with Alchemy's homemade kombucha. As you sit there feeling the goodness of the food seep into your body, take a moment to appreciate the cozy barn-like vibes, the warmth of the fire pit and the lush green gardens.

Alchemy serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. It also often feels more like an experience than just another meal. It's sustainable, wholesome and 100% organic too. And because it's also in a quiet part of the Bukit, you can get a break from the hustle and bustle of the main tourist areas and beach clubs.
